Unsightly Veins? Skin Renewal can help!

Unsightly Veins? Skin Renewal can help!

We all know that getting old is not for the faint-hearted, even though we try to stay as youthful and gorgeous as possible, there are some things you just cannot prevent from happening.

Unsightly leg veins would fall into that category. A day will come when you notice the appearance of some small spider veins on your legs, or that some larger veins are becoming more prominent. Keeping legs tanned initially disguises the tiny superficial veins, but you may want to consider more permanent solutions for these smaller and even the larger veins. They are not going to disappear spontaneously!

What causes unsightly leg veins to develop?

~ It could be in your genes; if a family member has them, you have about a 50% chance of suffering
    from varicose veins as well.

~ Varicose veins can develop during pregnancy and although these are likely to disappear afterwards,
a few thread or spider veins often remain.

~ Being overweight also puts extra pressure on the veins and there is a higher risk of superficial- or
    varicose veins forming.

~ Standing for long periods of time can also cause veins to become more prominent, resulting in
    varicose vein formation.

~ Ageing also increases the risk of veins appearing on the surface of the skin.

How can I prevent these veins from becoming more prominent?

~ Adopt a healthier lifestyle to assist your overall health.

~ Regular exercise will help with circulation and prevent venous insufficiency.

~ Avoid very tight clothing that may constrict blood circulation in the legs.

~ Regular massage and lymph drainage treatments may also help encourage healthy blood flow in
the body and speed up lymph drainage.

What can I do to get rid of these unsightly veins?

Your Body Renewal clinic has various treatments for removing these veins safely and effectively and will advise you on the correct supplements, topical products and lifestyle changes that will help you.

~ Sclerotherapy is a treatment that injects a solution directly into larger veins including varicose veins
which will cause the walls of the veins to stick together. This collapses these larger veins. The
body will remove the trapped blood in the treated vein as waste through natural elimination.

~ The Nd:Yag Laser Vein Removal shoots a highly focused beam of light directly at the smaller
spider and reticular veins which will cause the blood to coagulate in the vein. Blood can no longer
flow through these veins and the body slowly and safely removes the trapped blood.

~ Carboxytherapy, which consists of microinjections of carbon dioxide around the area being treated,
will not only drastically improve the appearance of superficial spider veins, venous insufficiency,
and varicosities but will also increase venous and lymphatic circulation in the affected area. It can
also be used after laser vein removal or sclerotherapy to assist in faster healing.

~ Topical products, such as Doctor Duve gel, contains horse chestnut which helps improve
superficial circulation and blood flow and also speeds up the healing process.

Patients can also take supplements while undergoing Laser Vein Removal, incorporating MSM,
Meriva Curcumin and Venaplax (2 x per day).

How long does the treatment take?

Laser vein treatments can be booked in 15 – 30 minute sessions and you may need more than one, depending on the severity and the size of the area being treated. The veins will take about six to eight weeks to heal and disappear. Winter is the perfect time to do Sclerotherapy as the compression stockings that need to be worn for 2 weeks post treatment can easily be covered up with slacks and tights.
