     The physical and psychological
       benefits of plastic-surgery

      by:
Dr Nerina Wilkinson

There are so many physical and psychological benefits that come from having plastic-surgery.
Some people want to look younger and others might just want to change some features that they have never liked about themselves. No matter what the reason is for wanting plastic-surgery, there
is no doubt that your self-esteem and confidence will increase.

What Are The Physical Benefits Of Plastic-Surgery?

Some people are born with physical deformities which are easily noticed in public, this obviously has a big effect on their confidence. People that have been in tragic motor accidents and suffered from injuries that have altered their physical appearance are prime candidates for going through with plastic surgery. These patients are able to restore themselves both physically and psychologically. Some might have a specific body part that they want changed because they think they look bad, whereas others need physical alternations to help with performance of their daily activities.

What are the Emotional Benefits?

Changing ones physical appearance can have such a powerful impact on the way a person feels emotionally. Once the initial bruising and swelling has disappeared, ones self-confidence will sky rocket to new heights and will be noticed easily by others, making it easier for the patient to socialise and meet new people.

Plastic-surgery can help a patient live a far happier life and be generally more productive in their daily activities. When someone has a self-esteem boost you will often see them taking risks they normally wouldn’t take. Whether it’s applying for a new job, going on a blind-date or maybe trying out a new sport, plastic-surgery gives you the confidence to do these things making plenty of positive impacts.

Many adults suffered from emotional trauma as children due to their peers teasing them about certain aspects of their body. This type of trauma that was suffered as a child can still be carried through into your adult life. Unfortunately today we live in a society where physical appearance aids being accepted into a social circle, as well as effecting job opportunities.

Ask Yourself Why?

It is important to ask yourself why you want to have cosmetic surgery. Answering the short list of questions provided below can help you make a better informed decision.

    1) What is your main motivation for wanting plastic-surgery?

    2) What physical feature do you want to change and why?

    3) What do you expect to gain from the surgery?

    4) Does your surgeon agree with your reasons for cosmetic surgery?
