6. Cellulose Thickeners(HEC’s) Cellulose is a versatile polymer found in nature, and is an excellent fibre. The introduction of hydroxyethyl ether groups in the glucose repeat structure creates a series of cellulose derivatives that have found wide ranging applications in the personal care industry. Methyl Cellulose – MC- low viscosity MC is usually used as emulsification agent of water packed oil emulsion while MC with high viscosity can be used as thickener, adhesive agent suspending agent and tablets agglutinate. MC can also be mixed with HPMC as film coating of tablets.
Hydroxy Ethyl Clellulose - HEC is mainly used as adhesive protective, gelling agent, thicker, and stabilizing agent in personal care and food industries.
