Twenty years ago in June 1996, Sandy Roy Fuhr opened the first Beauty Therapy Institute in Rondebosch, Cape Town.  Sandy was about to have her 2^nd child, after working as a therapist and teaching at various colleges for many years.  She was offered the opportunity to utilise a small room within a Beauty Salon for training purposes.  It’s from these humble beginnings that the Beauty Therapy Institute celebrates 20 years of expert training and quality education in the beauty industry.

Sandy pioneered the concept of studying beauty therapy at the student’s own time and pace. This system has been fundamental in the Beauty Therapy Institute’s success and the work opportunities that it has created.  Thousands of students already graduated, introducing them to the world of opportunities in the beauty sector.

The Beauty Therapy Institute keeps its promise of providing students with expert training and the highest quality education found in the beauty industry. The courses and programs are of top standard, quality assured by Sandy herself.  The colleges are internationally registered and has its graduates employed all around the world.

Beauty Therapy Institute graduates can be found working on cruise-ships, in medical aesthetic clinics, in wellness spas and beauty salons, either home based or commercially situated. A focus has been on empowering women to open their own businesses and develop their own potential.  What is more is that Beauty Therapy Institute graduates receive preferential interviews for potential employment at any Sorbet salon in South Africa or the United Kingdom.  

All classes are kept small to ensure one-on-one contact between learners and educators. This is the strength of our 100% success in the Health, Beauty and Skincare Therapy external national or international examinations we hold annually.

The Beauty Therapy Institute has campuses in Woodstock in Cape Town, Somerset West in the Western Cape, Randburg and Rivonia in Gauteng, Secunda in Mpumalanga, Walvis Bay and Windhoek in Namibia, Bloemfontein in the Free State and Lagos in Nigeria that are available for learners to choose from. Three of the colleges – Randburg, Cape Town and Rivonia are franchised from Sandy by The Sorbet Experience.
