Vitamins and Active Ingrredients for Personal Care
Vitamins help to provide a beneficial environment for the protection, correction and renewal process of hair, skin and nails. Addition of vitamins at the relevant levels and in scientifically formulated vehicles can enhance the performance of personal care products by increasing their performance, and functionality. Of particular interest in personal care are vitamins A, E, C, Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) and vitamin B6. Also, Phytantriol and Omega-6 Oils (Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil) are very useful in enhancing the performance of personal care products.

ALPAFLOR® is the product line of DSM Nutritional Products Ltd dedicated to the cultivation and extraction of specific and rare mountain plants from the Swiss Alps. ALPAFLOR®’s factory is situated in the Swiss Valais, near from the cultures, and holds an Ecocert® licence, a worldwide guarantee for natural and organic cosmetics, from the raw materials to the active formulations. UV filters are ingredients, which absorb, reflect, or block harmful ultraviolet A and B radiation. They are formulated into sun care products to give a specific SPF number. The damage to skin and hair resulting from daily exposure to sunlight is increasing, as a result UV filters are becoming popular in day care products, such as moisturisers, shampoos and conditioners. UV filters are also used to protect the integrity of cosmetic products, ensuring the colour and the fragrance do not change over time. DSM's UV filters are marketed under the exclusive PARSOL® brand. DSM also provides anti-oxidents and ingredients that protect skin cells and DNA from UV damage.
Emulsifiers enable the harmonious integration between the oil phase and the aquenous phase resulting in cosmetic products that give an elegant feel and a brilliant shine, as well as increasing the water resitancy of sunscreen formulations. DSM's emulsifiers are marketed under the exclusive AMPHISOL® brand.
